Hell Hounds process
Hell Hounds process

The idea, composition, and even orientation changed quite a bit throughout the whole process of painting "Hell Hounds." I didn't really have a concrete idea for what the painting wanted to be at first. I knew I really liked the pink plastic tendril shapes. The pink shapes later evolved into fire. By chance, I came across some foo dog figurines in an antique store and fell in love with them. I thought they were good characters that could blend into this landscape. So in the end the image became a nightmarish hell-kind-of landscape with the foo dogs becoming "demon dogs" sitting in a lake of fire.
